I couldn't agree more - I think in any EU country the current law in Spain is highly questionable.
It is not unreasonable of any property owner to expect the laws of the country to protect the rightful owners and indeed I find it more than objectionable to find the rights of squatters take precedent over owner's rights.
It is incomprehensible to me to find the laws of any country favours lawbreakers over lawful citizen's rights. It's time the EI stepped in to protect homeowners in Spain. This law is anathema to any right thinking people. Facilitating illegal activity, ie breaking and entering, is beyond comprehension particularly when it is a well known fact that many of these squatters are highly organised mafia operators not averse to using extreme violence and often blackmailing the legitimate owners.
Remember the utilities are still in the name of the owners and it is they who must pay for them regardless of the fact that they no longer have access to their property & Spanish law offers no protection to owners in such circumstances.
To think this is permitted by law in a civilised country says a lot about the legislators of Spain. Can't understand why Spanish citizens don't find this law as objectionable as others do since their own property is as subject to it as non Spanish owners.
