Hi, bit of a strange question, but thought I'd give it a go! As we are non-resident and have gaps in our time in Spain, is there anyway car insurance can be stopped/restarted so we only pay for when we visit? There's also the question of the car being insured whilst parked at Alicante Airport with our parking provider. Thanks.

A car must be insured all the time - just think if it caught fire while you were away and burnt out several adjacent cars? You can declare it the equivalent of SORN but I believe there are conditions, and your insurance bill is unlikely to be much less, if at all.
I think this question has been asked before on this forum.
