Only the official ITV stations do testing in Spain. Google to find your nearest one then make an appointment online. Your road tax is dealt with by your town hall, best to get it put on direct debit then you can forget it. Although the tax runs from 1st January for everyone it often is not taken until the middle of the year - the ayuntamiento will tell you the date it is due.

Hi Sharon, for an ITV you will need to go to the ITV station at El Arreaque on the road to Yechar, you can either make a prior appointment (Cita Previa) or just turn up and join the queue.

The Road Tax (IPTVM) have not been sent out yet, but are due anytime,  it might be worth checking at the Agencia Tributaria in  Calle Antonio Machado that they have your correct postal address. Payment date for Mula is normally 1st week in May.

Hope that helps.

Do you need to speak Spanish when you take you vehicle for it's ITV test ??

Or can you manage without ??

Hi Roland,

It certainly helps but you can manage without, one of the senior testers at the Mula centre has a good grasp of English.

Have just seen that the chief of the San Javier ITV station is taking part in the very useful N332 roadshows about driving in Spain. I have always taken my cars for ITV even back when I only had a little Spanish and had no problems. If one of them struggled to get through to me he would invariably just say to get out, and he did those tests. Trickiest bit is when they hand you a walkie-talkie then disappear into the pit under the car and squawk at you to waggle the steering etc. https://www.facebook.com/751918711819133/videos/373368776702760/

As I understand it ITV inspections are all on hold. It is still lawful to drive your car, but make sure the tyres are OK.
