Hi, I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction  - I'm tearing my hair out with frustration!!  Some months ago, various improvement works were carried out in our street, including the installation of new electricity/telephone cables whilst we were in the UK.  The new cables have been attached to our property (not an issue) but the old ones are there - hanging off the house, a real tangled mess, cut through and tied to our window security bars and are, quite frankly, an ugly, dangerous mess.  I've contacted the council a few times who've just ignored me. What can I do!

Contact the utilities companies directly that are responsible for the putting the cables there, make an official complaint.

I'd also call your house insurance company and ask if there is anything they can do as this could be an increased fire risk or cause damage to your property.

That's great, thank you.  I didn't even think about the insurance aspect of it.
