Chris at upsticks has a lot of experience here due to him offering car import assistance - it varies by car.

You have to be very careful when having your headlamps re-aligned rather than replaced with LHD units.  For example, it is not just the direction the lights point t be addressed, there is a beam pattern which kicks up on the left in the UK to light the path.  This is a major problem wit...

...h the ITV if that upkick is still there when the beams are adjusted to point right.

This is important when the lights are adjusted via the car computer - e.g., Mercedes (and others).  Although the engineer may be able to adjust the beams, the upkick on the left remains in place ever so slightly.  This fails the ITV if there is the slightest trace.

I'd expect my missus's SLC to pass even on UK settings - it is like having 2 tealight candles out front, can't see a thing at night! (kidding, it'll fail but the lights are useless anyway).

Thank you, my car mar menor are doing it, lot cheaper....I'll make sure to discuss this advice.....thanks so much:)

Hi,

Having done this job on my RHD Nissan Terrano II (replaced headlights), you must also remember to change over the rear fog lamp, to the other side of the car.

Hope this helps.

It really depends on if the headlights being adjusted left and right not the normal up and down. This might be to replace the headlights. The headlights when on full beam will shine left or right depending if driving in UK or EU. Also they might even charge for the rear lights because reverse and fog might need to be change sides. Mine cost me 2k to fit, replace to conform to EU.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Absolutely spot on, sorry wasn’t sure if it was main or dipped but it’s the pattern on your head lamp glass.

You can't use stick on beam benders.

The car will fail the Spanish ITV.

Not necessarily, we brought a brand new right hand drive with intelligent lighting to Spain a number of years ago for a short time and had it ITV'd and registered with Spanish plates. To our amazement it passed with no comment about the beams.

It must have been a fluke though.

We managed with tape until we brought it home and re registered it there. Was always amazed they missed such an obvious thing though.

I can highly recommend this company we have just used them ourselves.  They can do as much or as little as you need to get your car re-registered here including headlight realignment.
