Good morning San Cayetano Forum Members,

Thanks for accepting my request to join the forum, I will apologise in advance for the lengthy post that follows 😂

We are a family of four, myself and partner, a daughter of 12 (going on 21😂) and son of 9. Currently living in Javea (Costa Blanca North) and been here for 4 years, although a beautiful place to live it's very expensive so looking to relocate to a new area. My partners father has a holiday apartment on the Taray development, so we have a basic knowledge of the area and have visited a few times.

So a few questions for you all...

Are there many families like us in the area? How are the local spanish schools? Are there any job prospects available? Both children are fluent in Spanish and Valenciano but do need English friends are there many about? Are there many activities /clubs for children?

Finally do you think that this would be a good area for a family like us to relocate to??

Sorry again for the length of the post, but all advice and tips would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance Gordon

For a young family it might be a bit isolated for the kids growing up. There isn't much to do. There are young families in the village and people have raised their kids here. The local spanish schools are ok, the concertados are better and a lot of families use one of the three local private international schools. If you move here you will be a taxi for your kids as there are more activities a 15 min drive away. The kids don't need valenciano here.

Work is limited, it depends what you want to do?. You need a car and for work its usually a commute to one of the larger towns / cities.

Taray seems to be a good mix of retired, young families and single professionals. There is a good mix of nationalities but it is a village and pretty quiet. It could be a good base to start the relocation to Murcia but depending on the lifestyle you want to live you might eventually want to go somewhere with more life.

If you have  more specific questions feel free to ask and good luck with your decision.
