Quite agree I have been banging on about misuse of the Queens English for a very long time. Some posts are almost impossible to understand. What also gets me wound up is the sad demise of the letter "T". This has almost disappeared from our language as it would appear to be "cool" not to use T in any manner of speech. My contributory rant!!!

I would like to suggest that those of us, for whom badly written posts are an annoyance, just don't respond at all to those posts.
Basically, if you don't like what you see, move on to the next item, don't contribute to the creation of a bigger problem.
Also, I use Language Tool grammar and spelling checker https://languagetool.org/ which is free, and sits in the background, checking everything you type, identifying possible errors and making positive suggestions regarding style and usage.
Cheers
Dave

I'm sure that the grammatically challenged have stuff at which they are better than I(me is allowed but deemed less formal and/or educated)......think if they don't quite meet standards I'd be cutting them some slack...could be they have something useful to contribute and I wouldn't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

One of the normalities I would like to see preserved is the avoidance of public criticisms of a contributor. for mispelling or typos etc. I often see responses on this forum, which would be better handled with a PM. So the contributor can correct spelling etc.without humiliation
Can we just do that?...

I am a self-confessed grammar nerd but I feel so sorry for those poor dyslexics who are afraid of commenting on any posts, or indeed, posting on forums like this one for fear of being humiliated.
Not everyone that makes mistakes is ignorant. Nowadays it is much easier to get help for this and related conditions. Back in the 40s, 50s and 60s the word dyslexic was unknown and if you couldn’t read or write correctly you were considered to be stupid.
Tell that to Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci or even Richard Branson!
Ladies and gentlemen - a little more tolerance and understanding please 😊

I totally agree with you, although I expect you will receive lots of the "here come the grammar police" type of reply from certain members! Sometimes it's not easy to understand what some posts are actually about.
Couldn’t agree more, well said. 😀😀

Wow!, a free tool that logs every keystroke. Good luck with that.

It behaves the same was as Grammarly, both highly respected grammar and spelling tools. Of course if you a Great Train Robber equivalent you might not care to use... but the same would apply to Google or Facebook.
I trust not many of those on this forum.

Thanks. I've just downloaded Grammarly. Now I hope that I can improve my own grammar and punctuation. I often get confused about how to use commas correctly.

This might read like a 1st World problem, and we aren't corresponding for an English grammar test, but when writing Q&A's, some people should be more attentive to the correct use of the words... there, their and they're.
Feel free to discuss or ignore my mini-rant 🤔. I'm done 😁
Eye (sic) couldn't agree more! Spelling as well as incorrect use of words has long been an irritating factor when reading posts on the internet. We can't even blame the education system as I believe most contributors are past the first flush of youth :o)
I have had many an interesting conversation with 'new style' teachers who insisted that punctuation, grammar and spelling wasn't important! really? - Perhaps they should run free classes in English as well as Spanish? :o)
