Hi, first time poster here!
When we are in the U.K. Our water bills in San Pedro are never the same even though our house is empty and the water is turned off. Is this the same for anybody else. This is a very helpful site, happy holidays.

They have offices in almost every town and office like la zenia speak good English. We always go in.
Hi,
If when you are not there, and your water is left turned on, and your bills alter, you may have a leak.
If you turn the water of when you are not there, the bill cannot alter as your water is isolated.

I think a lot of people are caught unawares by electricity bills. Bear in mind that Spain is the most expensive country in Europe for electricity - this may help explain why they seem so high. Shop around for a supplier, I know there are a few so there must be competition. We have just moved to the area and our agent arranged the electricity for us just this week. We only arrive there tomorrow so I don't know yet who we are with. It's easy to change though so do the due diligence and you should be ok.

If I remember correctly you get the first 15 cubic meters of water 'free' then you start paying per cubic meter on top of that.
So even if you don't use any water at all you still pay for the 15 cubic meters.
But why would you pay for the 15cubic mtrs. if its "free"?

Hi
Electricity charges in Spain are very expensive, it is always main news how dear electricity is, as a small reducer, change all bulbs to LED, turn of unused appliances,

When you study the bill they send you, the make up of charges is amazing, plus tax.
Same as water charges, can also be expensive, tip given to me was turn of all in the property, then look at the main meter, if it is still moving, you have a water leak, as many properties do.
The water pressure in Spain is very high, and leaks occur in the pipes very often, some times unnoticed for a long time.
It is advisable to fit a pressure reducing valve in the main line.
`I'm interested in your comment about water pressure being very high in Spain because I am finding that at night time the water supply dwindles to a trickle. Usually happens after 11.30/12.00 but it's most nights. Anyone having a similar problem?

Also there are instances of neighbours connecting to your water supply. Look for strange pipes that have no logic for being there. A friend came to his holiday home and found his neighbour on .camposol had blatantly connected to his water supply.

Hi, very good point, search everything, it has also happened to a friend of ours, but only found after they had purchased the Villa, and of course he was found responsible, but he obviously knew nothing about it.
