Dog beaches
We will be bringing our 7 year old Golden with us in September and would like to know which beaches still accept dogs in the Mar Menor region?

In the summer none, in the winter people tend to turn a blind eye if you stay away from the nature reserves of the salinas and calblanque. You need to go early morning or late evening. Los narejos near the spinosa end of the beach is ok for an off lead run but I won't let my dogs in the water of the mar menor as its high salinity and if they drink it they they get an upset tummy . I wouldn't go in the mar menor myself anyway. The nearest doggy beaches cala la mosca in orihuela Costa about 15 mins up the coast and Mazzaron has 2 or 3. They are designated year round official beaches for dogs. You have to take the dogs veterinary book with you just in case.

Dogs are not allowed on any Mar Menor beaches except the designated ones although there are quiet setions that people do let their dogs off....nearest is Playa Flamenca which has just been designated as dog friendly. There are many secure dog parks around Los Alcazares and Ribera and a great place near Roda that has doggie play nights and training as well as daycare and kennels...look at Top Dog Hotel
