Thanks for the advice. We are safely back in Spain having driven through France with no problems. We had locator forms and Vaccination certificates which were accepted. We have driven many times and I have now memorised a route which is virtually toll free yet uses many motorways and national dua...

No the tolls on the AP7 at La Zenia and Los Montesinos are both still in place I believe for another 20 years or more which is a shame. They are currently 4.05 euros each.

Hi, just returned from a drive to San Pedro Del Pinitar so thought I'd share our journey. I can't say it's the best as it's my first trip! Please note i drive max 75mph, two of us and we have a dog and the car was fully laden with bikes etc. We did Eurotunnel Folkestone to Calais. Toll roads all the way, Calais - Reims - Dijon - Macon. (6.5hrs) Overnight stay.

Day 2, Macon - Lyon (Very busy) - Nimes - Montpellier - Perpignan - Barcelona - Valencia - Alicante - San Pedro (12hrs) Total distance approx 1380 mile.

Tolls cost 119.40 Euro going (£102.84) and 117.60 Euro return (£99.90). Tolls were free and open in Spain except one which was 2 Euro 30.

We stopped approx every 150mile for comfort break. Easy driving if you've never done it before, all dual carriageway etc, v stress free. Hope it helps someone. I accept we were on the toll and main route, captive audience etc but we found France v expensive, diesel was averaging 1 euro 80 litre.

Bien Viaje x

Thanks for listing the route - we're planning on doing the same next month (providing things go well with visa...), like you we have a dog and I plan on breaking the journey at Perpignan, so making three days of 600'ish miles.

May I ask which hotels did you use.....and did you take any household items in the car? If so how did you get on at border checks?

Many thanks.

Frank

Hi, we stayed in the Novotel in Macon using booking.com each time which allows cancellation before 6pm if you decide to travel further, it was £92 including breakfast and the dog. Our car had lots of household items from bedding to cutlery and pans etc. No border checks both ways and I guess you know the French/Spanish border is currently open, drive thru. It appears av good time of year to travel. Good luck
