Car hire.
Is there anywhere close to Ribera where you can hire a car?
Or a recommendation of a competitive provider at Murcia airport.

Are based in area although I don’t know much about them
Centauro and firefly are the better companies at the airport stay away from Goldcar
I’ve just hired two cars with firefly this month no issues and brand new cars.
A good broker is Doyouspain.com
Any further info give me a shout, as too much info to put in message
Hope that’s helpful
I would recommend Centauro for car rental. Strongly advise to avoid Goldcar.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
My wife and I are spending more time here in Ribera with most breaks being 3 plus weeks. We get around using our bikes but during our stays would like the option of hiring a car having paid for a lift from the airport to Ribera.
Three weeks hire cost is way out of the question so the issue is ……the convenience of say hiring a car for 3 plus days, maybe more, the cost and proximity of the car hire firm
Haven’t managed to work out how public transport will get me to Murcia airport to pick up a car.
Any ideas please?

These are based near you and appear to offer cars for around €40 per day, so not too bad for a few day's hire.
They get reasonable reviews, but I've never used them so I can't recommend them personally.
Hope this helps!

For a carefree holiday, Goldcar is the best, but you must use their insurance. It covers everything. Bad experiences are all related to insurance issues.

That's your opinion and you may have been lucky and had good experiences with Goldcar.
However, I have had two very negative experiences, neither related to insurance / damage - which fortunately I 'won' through my credit card provider.
Goldcar have regularly been found to be the worst car hire company in Europe (in customer surveys) ans they were the subject of a major investigation by the Consumers' Association (Which? magazine) and The Telegraph.
In 2019, Which? published a report in The Times stating that 'Goldcar are the worst car hire firm ever' and that they 'were amazed that such a company was still allowed to trade' (and commented on issues with cross-border regulation).

Fine. Everyone has different experiences. I've been using them for 15 years or so, returned cars with damage, once very serious, and there was no hassle as I had full insurance cover. As I said insurance is the issue, and all those cases in Which Magazine etc. would reflect the number of such cases. Goldcar is one of the most popular car hire firms in Spain. They have quality cars and a good after-service. Fair enough, tell of your experiences but people advising others to "stay away from Goldcar" is a bit over the top.

Totally agree, as of my last comment.
Stay away from Goldcar.
Even with full insurance!!
They say everything ok, then when I get home try to charge me for a full tank of fuel.
Luckily I had the photos of milage and full tank along with receipt for fuel, sent them the receipt, they then tried to say that could be someone else’s receipt!!
Sent all info off to my credit card company and they got me the money back.
Been accused of punctures and loss of aerials in the past.
Never again.
