Hi Rick
We have bought in La Ribera last year. We are in our 50s from Ireland. At the moment we use it as a holiday home but in due course the plan is to be here more.

Can you recommend any nice restaurants in La Ribera please?

Hi, there's an excellent fish restaurant called La Lonja on one of the side streets close to the sea front. Just off the main drag leading down to the sea - I believe it's called calle O'Shea believe it or not;-). A little pricey but v good and lovely staff. You may need help with the menu but they do have an English speaking waitress - we found it very confusing and unclear.
There is another really good place called Casa Araez (spellin may be a little off, apologies). It's in Pilar de la Horadado so you'll need a car but we've never been disappointed there and Encarna, the owner, is so welcoming and professional. Frequented by Belgians in the main and a lovely interior. Again, it's a little pricey too but for a special treat you won't go wrong there. Also, just outside Pilar if you Google Rebate, its in a beautiful setting with high palm trees and ducks and even peacocks.. It has an interesting history and we like the good there very much. Gorgeous on a sunny day.
If you like Asian there are a good few very good ones up near La Zenia in Torrevieja - only 20 mins. on the motorway.
I'm sorry I don't know that many places in Santiago itself but there is an excellent pizzaria called La Placa, Google Maps will get you there, it's in San Javier. Again it features a lovely interior and really good staff and not too pricey. If I think of any more I'll let you know
Enjoy your new property in Santiago - we have a place next door in Lo Pagan and are Irish too. If you come across anywhere you'd like to recommend please let me know too - we're always on the hunt for nice places.
Cheers Ann
