Hi guys

SALT&PEPPER is a beautiful Spanish (EUROPEAN) restaurant on the main road to PILAR DE LA HORADADA. It’s on the left hand side as your driving from Santiago you have to drive past to the roundabout and double back to the Entrance it’s lunches,Menu del DIA &ala carte menus are excellent...

..., inside& outside dining beautiful setting day or night great service I’ve eaten there more than a dozen times with different friends &from different Menus &Never been disappointed. Advisable to book at this time of year ! ENJOY!

Yes, am glad you reminded me about this gem - it's very good. Thank you.

Thank you for this post Conor. Timely too as we will be returning from Ireland next month.

One you might like in lo Pagan is Rubio 360, lovely views of the Mar Menor & a little further in Pilar de la Horadado is Casa Aarez - like you say, a little pricier than most but never had a disappointing dining experience there & definitely well below Irish prices which have reached jaw ...

...dropping levels this year. No views but a lovely restaurant professionally run.

....adding to the Lo Pagan list , Los Molinos close to the entrance to the muds a good mix of Spanish  /European cuisine.....Venezuela, a world class fish restaurant down beside Lo Pagan Marina, but the jewel is in San Pedro Port. ....a little place called Cielo run by an English couple Chris and Heather. Imaginative, creative high quality food and an excellent wine list....it is a must visit

Thank you for that helpful information. I agree about Cielo - it’s small but very very good - a real gem. Their opening hours don’t  always suit but definitely worth a visit. I had to leave in a hurry once and Chris very kindly put my uneaten food in a suitable container so I was able to enjoy it later at my leisure.

There is a decent Asian in Pinatar Park as well Oisin and it’s very nicely decked out. V reasonable prices for quite good Asian food.
I haven’t tried Los Molinos yet but will now that you have alerted me to it and I’m afraid I thought Venezuela didn’t quite compare with La Lonja in Santiago for us but a lovely location. we felt it was over hyped but maybe we were just unlucky. We went twice in our early days in San P. Maybe they have upped their game now.

There is another well regarded place down where the salt flats are called Mardesal. Great location. We have mixed views though. Not consistently good being the main one. It gets very busy but good service we thought & a rather special location.
And Campbell’s Irish pub in Roda is very friendly and yes, it is Irish owned by MikeCampbell from Drogheda. Good pub food too.
Thanks again for all the tips, they’re  v welcome. Oh there’s one in Alcázares in the main food drag there where there are a lot of dining options and bars. . It’s called Hemming-way (presume the hyphen has to do with rights). Again, not consistent but you can strike gold there too.  And Little Sicily is in the same area - very popular and good Italian food.

We bought a flat in La Ribera 2 years ago, we love it. It's a very traditional location, not many Brits, some Spanish families who mainly come for the weekend or in August. It's not full of ex pats & Brit pubs which is why we like it!

Don’t tell everyone 😜
