Hi Steve.

We bought our place through Ribera 3 in Santiago de la Ribera, Isobel dealt with us she speaks English, they were brilliant as we bought a property that needed a total re furbishment, they put us in touch with great Builders and a an architect who dealt with everything. Our friends bought through GMC estate agents in los Alcazares the guy there is Graham a South African guy who is very good, they also rent there place out through him with no problems. The solicitor we used was Mare Nostrum law and tax, they are in los Narejos ( right next to los Alcazares) they are very good and more importantly, straight! If you e mail them in English they reply in English and they speak English very well, they will sort everything out for you bank accounts ect very good. You don’t need to speak Spanish in Satiago de la Ribera they mostly all speak English and are very nice about our attempts to speak Spanish. We bought our place just about 18 months ago and one bit of advice I can give you which was told to me was don’t use ex pat workmen only Spanish. Anything else I can help you with just give us a shout.

Good luck

Hi Steve.

I don’t think Santiago is considered upmarket, but I could be wrong as I said we’ve only owned for 18 months or so, as for prices I don’t think there is much difference between Santiago and San Pedro but I think los Alcazares is a bit cheaper, they are all very close to each other San Pedro to Santiago is walkable along the beach path.
