Sorry to muddle things up even more….I opened my account without a Spanish mobile number, I used my Irish number.

Hi Anni20

You opened an account without a Spanish Mobile Number But were you able to Pay your  IBI taxes and utilities from it ??

If they refuse it is illegal

Michael

😝🤦‍♂️ it’s just a contact number (mobile) irrelevant of where it is registered!!! & most banks, utilities companies will ask for contact number email etc…….

I first had a Sabadell account before moving to cajamar and both accounts fully functioning, all bills, NRT, IBI etc paid from my wefferent account.

Hi Martyn,

Good info but I do think the Spanish mobile info is incorrect, I’ve opened an account without a Spanish mobile 🤔

A friend and I tried using UK mobile numbers to open Wefferent accounts and it didn't work. The bank teller helping us set up the accounts even phoned head office to find out why and was told that the system only accepted Spanish numbers.

Its true Cajamar demanded a spanish no when we opened in 2019, and as I have a Hits sim gave them that. They use it for notifications for both of us so I get 2 lots of infos. Hits cost me €1 mnth to keep open though annoyed as upto 2021 it was just €5 yr to keep the number. Small enough price to get a spanish sim and get your accounts opened. I dont use it but have to have it as have house alarm with a Hits sim in it too so it calls my sim if set off. As its a hoiday home we just use our O2 sim when in Spain.

Regards

Pauline

Banking & transactions/exchange rates!

Sorry but trying all best routes!

So are HSBC good to used for transactions & exchange rates?

I do have an HSBC account in England is there any advantages to use these (as they’re a global bank? For D/D & paying bills in Spain)

I currently have a Cajamar fee free account & transfer monies from a wise account to the cajamar for bills etc.

So in ALL your options is what I’m currently doing the best & financially the most viable?

😜 Thanks & advice always appreciated 🥰

One other question my personal tax payment (not the property yearly tax like council) this is once a year, how do I set this tax payment up? Ta x

Hi,

I also have a cajamar wefferent account in which I keep a balance of approx €1500 for all d/d’s and yearly bills. I deposit cash via the atm as and when I’m in Spain which works for me. I’m working hard on maintaining the mantra that owning a holiday is a relaxing enjoyable experience so the less time I have to spend on transferring money etc the better for us.

Our IBI bill is paid around June time and in August or September I email the office responsible for collecting the payment, for us it’s in San Javier, with the house address and NIE number asking for a copy of the bill to be sent to me. Once I have this I forward it to a tax consultant to calculate the Non Resident Tax (people on here do this themselves but for €25 or so I’m not taking on the stress, maybe when I’m retired)….and I pay the bill at cajamar atm. Hope this helps…

Good day Paul. I’m also a newby in the area, can I ask how you got on with finding information on IBI payment, I purchased my place a year ago but I’ve not been back often, so I’m looking for information on paying my IBI tax, I’m looking at being back somewhere around June time, any information gladly received.

Regards

Mark
