Moving to Spain and having health insurance seems to be a must but how long do you have to pay this is it for the rest of your life , I have had a few quotes but it seems as I will be 65 later this year they have added what the  increase will be the following year , do these increases go up each year even though you may never use it .

I assume that you are moving to Spain with a Non Lucrative Visa - if so, you are correct in that you need private health insurance.

This would continue for the first 5 years of residency, until you apply for permanent residency. At this point you could join the Spanish health service via a convenio especial, which would cost €60 per month, but €157 per month if you are aged over 65, or you could continue with private health insurance.

However, once you are entitled to take your state pension in the UK, you can apply for a form S1, which entitles you to use the Spanish NHS for free - and this can be done at any stage of the NLV 5 year process.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply, I did not realise that collecting my future state pension I could then get free health there in Spain .
