Not that we are spending much cash at all as using cards as recommended but we do need some cash and have virtually run out - does anyone know if it is okay to travel to our bank (obviously one of us) - the closest is either El Peraton or Mazarron. Since lock down I haven't travelled off of Camposol.

Going to the bank was included in the list of reasons you could be out of the house, but perhaps you should ask yourself what you need cash for - all supermarkets want cards, pharmacies take cards and the days of having a drink while you are out have been suspended. Play Devil's advocate and see what you would say if you were stopped and asked the same question by someone in uniform!

Is there not an ATM nearer than the bank?

PeterC, very good answer. I have been carrying quite a few cash with me for a while, but instead, been using card/s to pay for items purchased. There is no justifiable reason to drive far away from one's house to go to the bank unless if you have other business to conduct. My bank is closed until I am informed that they open for business as usual.

So, be careful, don't risk it. If the astronauts can stay in the orbits for many months, few weeks of lockdown shouldn't pose any problems to us.

I totally agree but there are a few instances where cash is needed e.g. Al's and Quick Save only take card for €10 or more and sorry to say I am a light smoker and don't actually want to buy a pack of 200 so one pack a time at the moment one pack a week or so and the machine at Bedago does not take card. I was simply asking - as I said I have not ventured off of Camposol. The ATM was sort of vandalised with no time in sight for it to be reinstalled. Not sure of other ATMs.

Be very very careful of those ATM's on Camposol.

The charges they impose can be horrendous.

Some routines have to be adjusted: You really should not be making small purchases, the idea is that you do a "weekly" shop so that you are out of the house the minimum time. I know that it is nice to get out of the house and see other people but you really are increasing the risk of you picking up a fatal disease.

I would suggest that if you are only smoking a packet or so of cigs a week that you have a beatable addiction and could use this as the opportunity to save thousands of euros by packing it in. I write as a previous heavy smoker who stopped about twenty years ago, and am left with quite severe COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

Everyone's situation is different. We live out in the campo, we usually have a stash of cash for emergencies eg vet visit. We've spent it paying for a delivery of avenate for the horses. Shortly, we will need our land turned over, Juan our tractor man can only take cash. Yes, the horses need to eat. Yes, the land does need turning over or we will have a plague of bichos in the apricots.

So, at some point, we will need to go to the ATM in town and get some readies.
