I've been living and working in Spain for just over a year now. Im employed by a Spanish company and pay all the relevant taxes here. I would also like to pay NI contributions for my UK Pension. Does anyone know whether I pay this as a voluntary contribution? Does owning a home in the UK make any difference to the contrbution I pay?

Thanks for your help

By UK pension I’m assuming you mean your UK state pension. Yes you are able to buy back whatever many years you are short.....you will find all of the information you need on HMRC...from memory there are 2 different amount of contributions you can pay which are significantly different, the contribution is worked out by HMRC based on the information you supply....I think a more relevant questions on the form is one about do you ever intend to return to live in the UK....at the time I said I might return.....I don’t know if it made any different whatsoever but I ended up paying the lesser contribution.....Good luck with it...

Thanks Anni20

That's very helpful. I shall try the HMRC site again to see if I can find the relevant information.
