Hi all,

Has anyone on this forum gone through the non lucrative residency procedure yet.

Unfortunately my partner and I cannot retire until 2 years time. We tried everything in our power to do so prior to brexit. Even checking for Irish heritage.

We have the finances in place for the  required amounts and cash to purchase a property. We just want to know how easy/difficult the process maybe.

I am and have been learning Spanish for the last 12 months and am getting a reasonable understanding of basic lingo

TYIA for any replies.

Hi Andy

I am trying to sort this out as we speak and have been researching for the last couple of months.

Not sure if you have started the process yet but if so maybe you can help me !

You need to apply to the Spanish consulate in the UK and you need to go to the one that covers your UK address.

You will need a criminal record Cert from ACRO

A medical Certificate from your GP there is a template for this

Private medical insurance by a spanish health provider or acceptable to Spanish for redsidency.

The funds which you said you already have

Your Passport and photocopies of every page of the passport it must have at least 6 months validity and at least two blank pages.

If you are bringing pets they must be vaccinated for rabies and have other bits done vet will tell you what and they also need Health certs from the vet which are only Valid for 10 days. I'm pretty sure this needs to be sworn into Spanish too.

All your documents must be Legalized with the Hague Apostile and once this is done sworn into Spanish by a trusted Translator ( list can be found on the Consulate website).

You will need to bring all of these things to your apppointment for the non lucrative visa which has a cost of £516,  to have the documents legalized it is £30 per Document, I'm not sure of the cost of translator yet am waiting on replies to emails.

Bearing in mind your documents can are only valid if dated in the last 3 months before your application appointment.  The timeline can be very tight with legalizations taking between 10-20 days. And getting everything together at the right time. Then you have 1 month to get your TiE in Spain from this date.

I hope this helps as it has taken me so long to find all of this information if anyone knows any different please let me know as I have not actually gone through the process as yet both being British.

If I have missed anything or I can help anymore please let me know.

Kind Regards

Angela
