The passenger numbers at Covera for 2023 were 877,796, up 4.6% on 2022. It is worth noting that San Javier handled more than 2 million passengers at its peak.

There are a couple of factors that lead me to hope that numbers will increase in 2024. I read that there are some carriers interested in taking new slots at the airport, both internal and international. Also, the government has started an initiative for smaller airports in Spain that handle less ...

...then 3 million passengers. This initiative is to try and and attract more carriers to use these smaller airports. Essentially for the next 3 years any extra passenger numbers, over the previous years total, airline carriers will not have to pay airport passenger fees.

Whilst it is nice, at the moment, arriving at Corvera and being outside of the airport in 10-15 minutes and returning to catch your flight home an hour prior to departure and whizzing through security and passport control, due to the few flights currently handled each day, I don't think this can be profitable or viable in the long-term. So, I hope numbers increase and it gets much busier, for the local economy and to maintain the convenience for many travellers and property owners in the area.

If it gets busier I think the transport links and some of the other things that people have issues with will improve. The increased numbers will facilitate improvement.

I will continue using it as much as I can and recommend it to others travelling to the area.

This is the wrong way round.

Wthout the railway, without the buses, MRU will remain isolated and probaby underused, which is self defeating.

Alicante, on the other hand, was excellent, in a sense.

Bus  links to Murcia were straight forward and regular, 50 minute trip.

Busses from Murcia to Sucina were straight forward and regular, 50 minute trip, but not anymore.

Unless you have personal transport, or are happy to pay upwards of the €45 taxi to Sucina, it remains a problem.

Personally I hope it doesn’t close.  I think it’s a great little airport.  Easier for me to use but my airline only flies there in the Spring & Summer.  Alicante is a pain 1 hour away and always so busy.  Sorry though for you that duty free was closed.  That’s a pain if you were hoping to buy something.  Personally as many others I take my own food with me and don’t rely on fast food chains.

I think its a lovely clean and peaceful friendly airport and can only get better.  I just wish there was more flights as hate using Alicante,

So lucky to arrive and depart in such a relaxed setting and I don't think it will remain this way.  I bring food with me as not a fan of Subway.  Will enjoy the airport while I can....

...

Would love to use Corvera but being in the north east there are no flights. Used to go from Leeds but no flights from there either now. Manchester is the only option but out of the question for us. What happened to all the flights from Leeds to San Javier, Where have they gone?

I'm sitting in Corvera RMU airport, the Duty Free is closed and also Subway, is this the demise of this airport?

We flew from Covera on Monday 12th February and although Subway was closed the Duty Free was open, I bought some little gifts.

Pity that flights to Belgium have been reduced--now only to Ostende or Antwerp. Brussels, Charleroi and Liège down to zero!

I hope not - and I think not.

You are there on one of the quietest days of one of the quietest months of the year.

November, January & February are the months with the least flights worldwide (apart from ski resorts).

Worldwide, when it comes to days of the week, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday are about average for volume of flights. Monday, Thursday, and Friday are, respectively, 1%, 2.5%, and 4% above average. Saturday, meanwhile, is almost 8% below average.

RMU is on it's 'winter timetable' until Easter, when the volume and range of flights will increase...

Thanks to 'tinternet for the info...

But every flight I have been on from Corvera 6 this year has been full, with people asking about flights to other airports which don't seem to come into their winter schedule.

I just wondered if the flights were there would people book them?

I would

I have a feeling that it is more about the local government subsidies on offer to the airlines rather than the number of people wanting to use Corvera.

Hi

I hope not, great little airport that has faced worldwide issues since opening. hopefully the next few years will really promote corvera and the surrounding areas.

i will always use it, and so should everyone. if you want to keep it open.

We would use it if we could.

No flights by anybody from Leeds Bradford to Corvera.

Or Bristol, only from Alicante
