Try rubbing half a raw onion as that works for me.

Just got up with 4 new bites from sitting outside yesterday evening. Rubbed with salt and I'm done for the day, no itching, no swelling. This does not help a little or a while. So happy I found this.

Hi Lydia

I will try the salt because I always get mosquito bites. I also found after sun lotion helps.

Hi everyone, some very interesting ideas and remedies worth trying. I also used to be a mosquito magnet, with many swelling and blistering on me. When I'm abroad I always used Boots own brand Soltan sun cream and aftersun with mosquito repellent which worked brilliantly but I now come out in a horribly itchy rash so I've had to stop using it. To my amazement I'm in Turkey at the moment and am not being bitten at all and I put it down to taking a daily vitamin B1 which I started taking earlier this year. If I do get the odd bite, and it's been only 2 in as many weeks, they come to nothing. No itching, swelling or anything else.

Hope that helps.

Helena

That's exactly my experience with vit B1. But only for 2 weeks. And I keep using them.

What dose do you take? I think mine might be 500 mg. I also found in both Spain and the UK that I wasn't being affected by them much before we came here so it's definitely lasting longer for me.

Good on ya Sue, was almost afraid  to post but it really works a treat for me does the back of a hot teaspoon. 'Cup of milk coffee hot', put spoon in it for 15-20 secs and put back of spoon on bite. You get what I can only describe as an 'Athletes Foot' tingle for 5-10 secs and bingo you have 6-10 hrs relief from itch.

So, if you see someone strolling along the Paseo covered in salt, raw onions and spoons you'll know it's me!

The Spanish use Citronela spray , night time use, as a mozzie repellant, works very well, but not in the daytime as it can attract flies.

For bites the Spanish recommend Alchohol 100% say from Mercadona 1€. (No you do not drink it!)

Deadens bites and pain  immediatly and steralizes the wound stopping infection

They say avoid any smelly perfumed sprays which are expensive and a waste of time.

My Wife uses this method now, I do not have a mozzie problem .I do not taste nice.😜
