I am using Flamenca Car Hire in September. You pay a deposit, they've been recommended before on this forum - I'm giving them a go.

We've used Flamenca nearly every time we've visited. Can not fault them at all. Hassle free and bend over backwards if you need to amend anything at the last minute. Just give you the keys at the airport, and take them back on your return and it's as easy as that.

Hi who are the other company your going to use? I need a car in August but firefly are double the price of other companies (I know you get what you pay for) but they took €65 out of my account last month & i dont know why.

Hi lee

We have used firefly in the past also with no probs . HOWEVER! they just did us for extra 45 euro from our June booking .. apparently fuel was less than full on return. Roughly 5 euro worth of fuel they bumped to 45 euro with charges . .absolute thieves .WILL NOT be using them again ! If you already have a booking I warn all to photograph fuel gauge on pickup and return. I guess they are trying all methods to recoup lost earnings due to covid.

They did exactly the same to us, we’d used them quite a lot with no issues. But would never use them again! And our car was totally full!!!

Goldcar did the same to me, full tank and 45euro bill. Have had problems with Firefly and  Centuaro with over 75 insurance charges.  However these three are considerably cheaper than Flamenco and F&C. I do like Bolneuvo Cars but they do not operate from Corvera.

I know its easy to say after the event but you should really take a picture of the fuel gauge before you leave the car. And the mileage.

Its a dead easy scam to pull.........

Yep, we’ve learnt our lesson.

We have had a charge for fuel of firefly, after 3/4 times of using them. Never again

But now, very controversial, we use goldcar!!! We’ve used them I would say, 15 times over 3 years. We got charged once for mileage,€200, and after emailing, they acknowledged a mistake and refunded it back!!!. I know , unheard of. But we have had no issue since, touch wood.

We are very careful though!!!! We check all paint, wheels, interior, mileage and fuel. But to be fare, they seemed to have changed there processes in the last 12 months. When you now take it back, they have someone to check it over, and agree mileage petrol and paintwork. You sign for the handover and , if they haven’t got loads of people handover, we’ve had the confirmation of no additional charge by the time we’re back in the terminal. And that’s at Alicante but mainly murcia. In fact there is a lovely lady at murcia we got to have a chat with, who is really nice!!! Haven’t seen her this visit though, so hope she okay😀😀😀😀

And just to say, I was a firm believer in you get what you pay, but in this case! We only ever pay August €6 a day rest of the time €3/4 for up know a very efficient service

My daughter uses GoldCar when visiting And has had no problems. Like you she checks and photographs, also makes sure the ‘spare’ is there and usable, if no ‘spare’ is the alternative usable. I think she has been well groomed by her OH!

Well...... We always use flamenco, however for this last 3 week rental, July/August they were nearly 3 times the cost of others. So, we went through do you Spain with drivalia, took out do you Spain's full insurance. We did have to change our flight by 1 day, but as we had booked through do you Spain, they wouldn't alter the hire by 1 day less, so were left with no option but to cancel and rebook as at shorter notice our choice of car wasn't available, even though we already had the same car booked for 1 day longer. Our flight ended up being over4hrs delayed so we didn't land till 23.45. Driver was waiting to take us to the off site facilities no probs. However when we got there, they tried hard sell on their own insurance, but we were having none of it. We  had an empty credit card with £1000 available balance to leave as requested, but, we hadn't been made aware that the cost of out of hours pick up plus full tank of fuel also had to be paid on the same credit card, they would not accept any of the other 3 cards we had. Long story short, at stupid o clock in the morning, and me on the verge of tears, we took out their insurance, just to get the car and get our weary selves home. They did however upgrade us to a brand new nissan qashqai, and there was no hassle when we returned it back. I would actually use them again, but book direct, and take out their insurance.

I use Indigo Car Rental they have a 4.8 out of 5. You don’t need a credit card. I use my debit card with no problems. They are a search engine.
