Use to be the case but not any more.

Lots of ways now for the Spanish government to keep a track of you.

Passport control, NIE number to get water, electric & bank account to name but a few.

Any of those that think they are still 'under the radar' are fast getting ON the radar !!

Or going back to the UK.

😁 going back to the UK. 😭

Hi Sue

If you are in receipt of UK state pension  then providing you move this year you will be able to get free NHS.  If not you will need private health care to get granted Residencia.  Which can cost upwards of €1000.00 a year.  There is a lady on Camposol called Debbie  Shaw you will find her on Facebook.   She specializes in taking people through the process ( for a fee  it's her business).  Yes you will be safe here on Camposol.  We have been here just over 2 years and have no regrets.  There is a public bus on Sect A that goes to the port and beaches and inland to Torana and to local train station.   We looked at all areas on Camposol  and eventually bought though Mercers as they were the agents for the house we wanted.   Look at Rightmove Spain and Mercer's  plus Kyero.com to gain a good idea of properties available.  Good luck

Hi Sue

Welcome. we have been an owner for 1 year now. so I may not have all of the answers you need, but this will help. hopefully.

1 - nearest beach is about 15 minute drive away & you will not be able to walk it, because of the motorway. I didn't think there is buses for this. but I may be wrong.

2 - Personally I would say camposol is very safe for you. Just take normal care like you would anywhere in the world.

3 - This depends on the size of your property ?. our cost [ for a Rebecca property ] electric 45 euros .water 25. internet 30. p c sums. then add food, home insurance [ ours 95 euros per year ] etc you can get internet cheaper if you shop around.

4a - No Spanish NHS you will need private health insurance. I cant help you on cost here.

4b - I recommend Another World Properties [ estate agent sector B ] Vinny will show you around everywhere, including beaches etc.

He's very good and went out of his way, to help us make a decision about camposol. obviously there are other estate agents. but I didn't like [ mercers & luz de sol ] they just wanted to sell me something and that's it. Rushed us around & didn't give us time.

5 - I believe there is now a bus service from airport [ please check ] taxi will be 50 / 60 euros each way. if you speak to Vinny [ above ] he will arrange a lift either way for you in advance. providing your looking at some of his properties.

6 - Again Vinny will assist you with this in advance. And tell you best places.

7 - Weather, normally sunny most days. some rain but not a lot. temp approx. 18 - 21 in the day . 11 - 13 at night. I would say come prepared just in case [ light & warm clothing ] .

if you will not have a car, I would only recommend sector A + B so you can walk to shops etc. but these are more noisy areas.

Sectors C + D are quieter, but further away from shops etc but these are the cheaper areas to buy also.

hope this helps. when you speak to Vinny [ another world properties ] tell him we recommended him.

Regards

Ian & Lindsey.

Hi both... couldn't put it better myself.....all the above is spot on information.....we also  bought from Vinny, couldn't fault the service... Mercer's not happy with, Mick and only Mick at Luz de Sol he's  not pushy but informative....found others to be so.....

I think you will find properties get passed around between agents, when we were looking 3 different agents took us to view the same property, each making out it was unique. This duplication happened a few times in the end we asked for exact details and said when we had already viewed a property and with which agency.

Regarding living expenses nobody has mentioned the rates paid to the town hall.

Regarding health, if you are in receipt of UK state pension you need an S1 form from Newcastle to get onto the Spanish health system. I don’t know what will happen after 31/12/2020, it depends whether a new reciprocal agreement has been negotiated, if it hasn’t we may all need private health insurance, hopefully it won’t come to this!

Depending on your health as to whether you need to visit or stay in hospital. The nearest hospitals for consultants, tests and operations is Cartagena and you will need something more than a scooter to get there. You could use the scooter to get to the bus station in Mazarron, leave the scooter get a bus to Cartagena then a taxi to the hospital you need. Reverse for return journey.

I don’t know whether these observations help, I just feel people overlook some of these hidden expenses.

Yes it is huge but luvly, went to sector c which was supposedly has area, but cldnt really c a problem, some roads uneven but not a problem and all sorted. A and B is nearest to amenities and the bus.sector c and d really need a car. Met some great people all very helpful. I loved it and female looking to do it on own. I stayed at la Garcia b & b in mazzaron port which was small but good budget as only there 3 days. Apparently la cumbre hotel is good . Hope this helps. Booking.com for places to stay are very good. I use them all the time. Sue
