Usually 10% - we only paid this when our lawyer advised all was ok - do not pay the deposit to the estate agent.

Hi Vanessa.  I have bought a number of properties.  You normally pay 3,000 euros.  You might be asked for more but 3,000 euros is standard and accepted across the board. If you pull out of the deal once you have handed over the money then you will lose the deposit, so don't sign anything or hand it over unless you are sure you want to buy.  Always use a lawyer who will help you with this.

When we bought last year it was 10%. All monies handled by our solicitor. We we told that  the 10%  is non refundable if the buyer pulls out, if seller plus out they pay the buyer double the deposit back. Thankfully never had to put that to the test. From finding the house to getting the keys could have been less than 2 months if Easter hadn't got in the way 😖

Don't forget to put an additional 12% aside of the cost for legal and tax costs.

Hi. We also put €3000 down as a deposit. This gave us 3 months to complete. Same as Philtox, all went through smoothly, with excellent communication from our solicitors (Fusters) and our agents (Condado Invest). Have lived in the same house in UK for 36 years, so was a bit apprehensive, but no need. Everything sailed through. Good luck on your search.
