Hi guys!

First post here, all going well I will be a regular!!!

I am looking for some advice on the area before making a purchase. I am hoping you can help.

So, myself and  my wife 32 & 30 have been considering a property abroad for quite some time now. Having browsed the current market, Spain, Cyprus & Georgia are the 3 Countries that we are between. With Spain, we seem to be between Camposol & Basilicas.

Could you give your own opinions on Camposol and if it suits young families? We are currently expecting our first child. We have very little interest in pubs but restaraunts and social/sport would be big on the radar.  Also, we would be looking to try for a house with Solarium and possibly private pool at a stretch. Could you advise on the best section for this?

Would the residents be neighbourly in general or do people keep to themselves?  When it does come to the likes of the pub, is the crowd rowdy or is it a more relaxed atmosphere? We prefer the more relaxed scenery

Thanks for reading and helping!!!

Conor

My wjfe and j are also looking to buy in murcia but as far as camposol is concerned , after talking to several estate agents over there we have been put off totally on buying in camposol. We were told the crime rate is high over there  and  lots of squatters breaking in to empty properties. We were told that this has been brought about by lots of high unemployment due to covid 19. Also been advised that sometimes the sales are taking months to go threw. You have to ask yourself why the properties in camposol are so very cheap and there are so many empty, even ones that have been empty since being built. Also we heard a lot of the properties suffer from subsidence. We are now looking more to los alcazeres. Now the things ive tild you have only come from several estate agents in the region so how accurate the information is i cant say but it was enought to make us look else where

Hi

I have a property on Camposol D which my wife and I bought a year an half ago and having just spent the past month living on Camposol and now returned to the UK, I totally disagree with the Andyschlotter post, you get what you pay for in Camposol and if you buy a property in the way you would at home , surveys, viewings etc then you can see first hand what you are buying.

Don’t be put off by what some people say from gossip mongering, come out to Camposol and make your own judgement.

Hope this is helpful but I’m sure the odd person might disagree with my comments but I could not be happier with our purchase.

Hi, l think Camposol is like marmite, you either love or hate it. We bought on D two years ago and love it here. But we are retired as are most people here so would not really recommend for a young family.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

You will get opinions from doom and gloom to Paradise, which just shows how different people are.

I personally don’t think it’s ideal for children/ young families. High percentage of retirees here and facilities geared accordingly.

I have a fair number of neighbours who have lived here quite happily for over 16 years.

Best tip - Do not consider moving here without a car!!

Thank you all for your replies! I appreciate it a lot. It really does seem like a Marmite area given that some people sing it's praise and others are very wary.  We will fly out to take a look when we can travel again without Covid being still a prominent feature in everyday lives. Even if we don't like it as a place to live it will be nice for a few days away no matter what.

Again, thank you all for helping out!

Conor.

Hi

my Husband and I have just bought a property on C and will be retiring to the area from the UK in February.  We are really looking forward to a relaxed way of life and know we have bought a cracking little home.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

We are in the process of buying a property in Camposol, a couple in our early 60s.

The couple selling it are moving to another area specifically for their child to get a better education (they feel English schooling gives more opportunity in life) and to have more children living locally to play with when he comes home from school.

So two very different messages there.

We are happy retiring to Camposol despite my wife immediately taking a dislike as we drove in at "car speed" and viewing some pretty poor villas the same day.  Then after walking around different parts fo the urb over the weekend and her deciding she really liked the area where our villa is, she did a complete 180 on her thinking as I was packing up to head to Almeria.  We also found that the wider area outside of Camposol also offers lots of opportunity and variety for those who have a car and like to get out and about a bit.

The second message - from the seller is that it isn't so good for children in terms of other kids and good local schools in their opinion after being there full-time for 5 years.  Other opinions are available as they say... but that is not our lifestyle today.

We wish you well Susan and Bob.

I think you have not been given the entire picture,

1, Squatters, this is rife anywhere in Spain due to how the Law works, not seen much in Camposol and certainly not more that anywhere else

2, Crime rate, due to the community spirit again there is no higher rate in Camposol than anywhere else in Spain

3, the high unemployment rate is due to the high number of retirees that do not need to work nor want too

4, whilst there are families on Camposol there are not a large number of facilities for young children

5, there subsidence issues at a small number of properties historically

6, Los Alcazeres has its issues the same as anywhere in Spain, half finished complexes from the financial crisis, the ongoing clean up of the Mar Menor from the run off of agricultural waste etc

as people say Camposol is Marmite and everyone in entitled to their views but please ensure that you have balanced views rather than 2nd hand views from estate agents that will always have a commission angle

all the best with your search and have fun
