Good afternoon, Wendy here, we are looking to move to camposol in the coming months. How long do you have to live in spain before i can get medication.  I currently have certain meds each month to treat migraines and am worried that when we move over i wont beable to get them.  Regards, Wendy.

To get free health care in Spain you have to be a pensioner or if you are a couple then you can get it if one of you is a pensioner. Get the forms from the DSS before you leave UK, possibly you can download them. You will then need to register for Residencia and once you have that you apply for health care  and you will be allocated a Doctor at the Health Centre. It all only takes a few weeks. When you arrive in Camposol it is a good idea to go and see Debbie at the health centre and she can arrange all this for you.

There is a private clinic on Camposol where you can go for consultations and treatment and they will give you prescriptions for your medicines although you have to pay full price for them. Some people stay registered in UK and get friends to pick up their medicines and post them out. If you have any problems hang on to your EHIC card as you can present it at hospitals and medical centres. A friend broke her hip last year and had to have a hip replacement all on the EHIC card. There are quite a number of people here with conditions such as cancer who travel back to UK for treatment, operations etc.
