My husband and I have decided to finally move to Spain. We have looked at properties in Villa Martin, ciudad Quesada and campasol, mainly because we are not planning on driving when we come out. Campasol has come out on top due to the sizes of property there, however we are constantly getting very different views of this urbanisation.  How bad are the problems with the infrastructure of the area I.e. houses, paths lighting etc.

Hi

We moved to Camposol 11 months ago and don't have any regrets. Our house is lovely and had no issues at all. Some of the roads need repairs but they are fine , street lighting not an issue where we are (sector D8) . I think there are a few areas where they have had and continue to have issues re the building structures but there are plenty of lovely houses for sale which don't seem to have any issues . We are loving our lives out here and still have lots of places to visit and explore . Hope this helps .

If you do facebook...join preguntas y mas murcia

its all Campasol....you might get a feeling for the place from some of the posts on there. Every day someone asks who has no water, electricity etc or talks about rubbish being left....like everywhere it depends wherebout in the area you live. I think it will be quite difficult wherever you go to do without a car altogether. Good luck making your decision.

A car is an absolute essential in most of these inland urbanisations.

Public transport poor. Shopping limited, beaches etc, unreachable unless you live near the coast.

Without a car you can go nowhere, with a car you can live anywhere & go everywhere!

So make sure to get a car and broaden your choices & horizons:-)

We purchased off-plan and took our property upon completion in 2005 so we've been here over 13 years now. We use ours as a holiday home and visit for 5 or six weeks twice a year. Yes, there are problems but on an urbanisation of almost 4000 properties there are bound to be. The roads aren't brilliant but they are no worse than any in the UK!!! If you buy from the right part of the urbanisation and use a reputable solicitor (VERY difficult to find so ask around on this website!!!!!!!) you should be fine.

You do need a car here as others have said, but within 20 minutes you are in the mountains or on the beach. Spain is an incredibly corrupt country but the ordinary people are warm and friendly, especially in this area which is mainly peasant farming and still very third-world-ish. You are also ideally placed to explore the rest of Spain if you like that sort of thing. We've spent a week or more at a time camping our way through Spain before working our way back to our place.

And the weather? It really is fantastic but it does get rather cool in winter and they do get snow occasionally. One last point - the dreaded mozzies!!! Mosquitos arrived here about 4 years ago. We knew they were moving around the Med from Syria and other Eastern Med countries. They are Tiger mosquitos mainly and they hunt 24/7 - another good reason to jump in the car and spend lazy days on the beach!!

If you decide to but I hope you enjoy it here as much as we do.
