Remote Working

Are there any people who work from home (remote working) on this forum?
My wife and I are intending on moving to Spain in the next few years and we're researching all the paperwork that we will need.
At the moment, I work from home in the UK for a company based in the Republic of Ireland (EU).
Would I need to apply for a work visa if we were to move to Spain permanently and I continued to remote work from our home in Spain? If so, I understand I would need to apply to the Spanish Consulate in the UK. Is that correct?
