Sorry to hear of your predicament. Hopefully the amount you paid him was less than €1,000 in cash as paying any more would be illegal in Spanish law. Before doing anything with the authorities it is best to check that you have not inadvertently or otherwise been complicit in the commission of an offence. Evidence you may have against the builder, could just as easily be evidence against you. Be careful. The hoja de reclamaciones (complaint form) suggested by others may be a good first step.

      As I mentioned earlier in this post you may (hopefully not) have needed a Mazarron Council minor work’s application before this work was started that’s your responsibility not the builders although a reputable builder would advise you, if you decide to go down the legal reporting process make sure you have done everything right, see attached screenshot.

Name and shame , stop others getting ripped off is getting too frequent on camposol, there is great builders , and there are cowboys who have a trade in flip all

This is an all too common complaint about supposedly experienced tradesmen in Camposol. - It's usually a rip off if you try to save money through the no IVA route.  These people know that you are equally to blame in this situation in the eyes of the law.I  had a similar bad experience with a so called builder/plasterer on my Fortuna bungalow parapet - and he actually lived next door! The work was of extremely poor quality. only half completed ,as he realized he couldn't do it satisfactorily: and said the rest didn't actually need doing.12 months later I had to pay someone else to do the same job over.

If not you I presume saw his advert and You decided to hire him ??

Reporting him to Tax Man will Not get you your money back

Hi thanks for revealing this to us as we need a builder to our newly acquired villa. But we need to know who to avoid.  Is it possible to name him to us. If not we might fall for the same. But we need bedroom on the roof.

He was recommended and yes we looked at some work he apparently done.

We agreed in good faith where I'm concerned.  I've done nothing wrong apart from lost almost 5500.00 euros, so no, I'm not leaving it.

Don't worry, I will let everyone know in due coarse. I have all the info I need to know for my trip out to camposol soon to see the authorities.
