Yet another break in on D with the house being ransacked. It must be months now since photos, footprints etc were provided to the police. Why on Earth is this still happening? I feel it is quite unsettling to have to lock my door just when I go upstairs. I never thought, when I moved here, I would not be able to relax in my own home! What is happening to the money that is supposed to be allocated for Camposol improvements and our IBI contributions etc?!

Having to lock your door when you go upstairs ??

That's just a simple easy and effective way of protecting yourself and your property.

I always lock my door when I go upstairs even in my UK property always have done and always will do.

Surely Roland, a person is entitled to own a house without fear of intrusions from scum like these who think they can get away with this, surely if there was enough of a deterrent like a large guard dog  or they knew they were going to meet alot of resistence they might reconsider trying to breakin in the first place. Both me and and my dog would love to deal with these scumbags.

Which sector of D was burgled?  We are the ones who got burgled end of September and now ended up being doubled grilled and alarmed. Must admit though we do lock our front door when we go upstairs on the solarium. Just something we've always done after living in Spain for 20 years. I can't understand either why the people haven't been caught yet. We supplied as much evidence we had to the police. But it is awful coming back to finding the house ransacked. And especially knowing all your mother's jewelry was taken also that was passed down to you which can never be replaced. Must admit it did make us think of selling up after only 4 months on camposol. But now we are as secure as possible and feel we can't do much more. Committed to staying here and making the best of things now. Just got to get the right mind set and don't let them grind you down.

A lot of people would like to catch them. The police just came about 4 days after the event and they said that a lot of deterants my husband wants to put up isn't allowed as if they try to climb over the wall at the back of our house and injure themselves then we can get sued. But at least we may catch them in the act. We are of the opinion that we were targeted as being newcomers and full time residents so they presume that you have valuables in the house. They must watch when you are away. Must have seen the car gone one night and on second night we were robbed. We had only gone away for 2 nights and were on the way back when we got the dreaded phone call. When you move here make sure you're as secure as possible, alarmed and insured. Liberty were brilliant in helping us with the claim and checked on us as my husband was very depressed afterwards

I have been burgled a number of times here in the UK, on one occasion I fought off the intruder who was attacking me, police caught the man who then tried to sue me for assault because he was injured whilst attacking me.  I can completely understand your anger, frustration and upset, it's difficult to know what to do to make yourself feel safe.  Doorbell cameras and other cameras linked to your computer/phone may not stop the person breaking in but will give you very clear evidence for police and if they do nothing Facebook posts to help identify them and warn others.  I admire you for not letting them 'run you out of town', enjoy your life in camposol and let the great community there help where they can x

Certainly feel your pain, we were out in November and were burgled on B whilst nipping to the bar for a couple of hours. We have had a holiday home for 16 years and this is the first incident but feel we were definitely targeted and have considered packing it in or moving elsewhere. We thought we were security conscious but these people were determined to get in and clearly seem not to care about being seen as they smashed in our front door and wiped us out including passports and hire car.

Police attended within 20 mins a number of questions a few photographs and that was all they could do. We are adding additional security and will see how we feel over the next few months but certainly don’t want to let low down scum drive us away. Somebody knows these people and hopefully they get their just desserts very soon.
