IBI. Council tax

Hi Stu, yes its an annual tax.

If you have not had a bill for any reason, check with your Townhall. 

A late payment generally attract a fine.

Very often during the purchase of a property the Factura ends up with your Solicitor/ Abogado even though your address  is on tbe bill.

If this is the case check with your Solicitor. Generally the Solicitor offers to pay it on your behalf and you pay the Solicitor.  Caution all  Solicitors charge for service.

Your solicitor should organise the payment of IBI by Direct Debit for you.

If you pay by DD you will NOT get any bill or paperwork by post or email.

I had my solicitors check with the IBI office,

Rather a peculiar system but that's Spain for you.

We just got our first bill it was €191 for a Classico👍

I think ours was about €180 pa but you only pay if you owned the property on 1st Jan in that year I think. Then there is another €90-100 for non residents tax if you don't live there full time.
