I brought a UK reg car over 12 years ago

It used to be cost effective but I think those days have gone now.

Apart from the hassle of the RHD at toll booths / car parks etc you can find things a little difficult at road junctions.

One of the main things to look out for is the cost of changing the headlights.

Some cars will need the whole unit changing but some cars can be adjusted.
