If you are a resident and want to reduce your bank charges, there are now several Spanish banks offering completely free banking online. I have just changed from Sabadell, with whom I was very happy until last September when they introduced charges, even for people who previously got free banking. I've now closed that account and have chosen BBVA as my new bank and now have a free online bank account with a credit card. Their website is available in English too!
We have always had free banking with BBVA till last Sept. We saw them yesterday & they told us that we must transfer €2500 per qtr and make make 7 transactions to get free banking otherwise there is a charge of €40 per qtr Mar Jun Sept & Dec. If you bbuy their house insurance or hold 4000 shares it’s free
