Los alcazares has more cycle lanes than most spanish resorts but no want more it is a walkway and place for children to play in safety yes it might be wrong parents allowing them to run across from the beach to the cafe bar but that is why it’s a designated walkway the person knocked over was injured quite badly and to make it worse the bike was apparently electric

I think you guys counting how many cyclists are on the prom need to get a life and enjoy yourselves..the world is going through a major trauma and counting push bikes is pathetic..if they are doing wrong let the authorities sort it..or stay home and stroke the cat.

Forget cyclists breaking the law

Forget robberies at bank machines

Forget break ins at peoples houses

Forget muggers

There only laws forget one you might as well forget them all

Think anarchy comes to mind

They are there to protect people like the person knocked over by a bike on promenade when there is many kms of cycle ways in Los alcazares we take disabled people along the promenade they are unsure of their direction due to their disability we just want a safe zone

I have seen more dangerous behaviour by "disabled?" people flying along the promenade on their mobility scooters and electric bikes and scooters going far too fast, than cyclists. I you want to campaign those are your targets. In the meantime cycling is not banned and the removal of signs looks professional and intentional.

We look after many disabled people they are mostly physically disabled not mentally but will read your post with intetest so will many people who respect elderly and disabled people,

Plus electric bikes if you care to look you will see are mostly ridden by cyclists who have found it easier than peddling and that truly disabled people use there’s for shopping and not for going along the promenade THAT is against the law it would seem the town halls notice the police notice is not enough and then the professional removal of the signs hopefully when they catch the people doing it you can ask them who gave them permission because on this site it has been posted from both the police and town hall no bikes on promenade just a thought the reason someone is on a mobility scooter is because unlike you they are unable to walk

Totally agree Wizzo.

I'm amazed that you only described the post as 'rambling'. A real disservice to 'rambling! :)

DMoss - take a deep breath before responding, so that we can understand.

New signs have been established all along the promenade in Los Alcazares , as of this week, which state how to look after "La Playa",  included in this list of do's and dont's is a bicycle sign  with a red cross through it, so assume we cyclists are barred from the promenade again.

They also show no fishing, no smoking, no dog fouling unless you pick up after your animal, are  all these actions going to be policed too??  Or is it just cyclists being penalised again, are we any easy target?

I agree that when the promenade is busy in certain months of the year, then we cyclists should avoid the promenade, but during the other times there is no one there,   so what is the problem?  Give clear guidance of times of day or the months when we can cycle, ie during the winter / off peak times. Let the people who live here and pay their taxes and rates enjoy the promenade out of season!

After this pandemic , Los Alcazares is struggling, we need to encourage , not discourage people to utilise the facilities we have to offer. Businesses need the residents support throughout  the year , to try to recover and to  encourage visitors  to Alcazares to have  a chance of success.

Live and let live!!!
