You could argue that the business of agriculture, providing stuff to eat and employment is more important than a few visitors being able to splash in the sea.....

Yep, you could also argue that harpooning whales for oil would be better than whale watching and that coal-fired power stations are better than windfarms and global warming is a Chinese Government invention.

But you would not.

Because there is no Earth B

If the only agriculture certainly east of the AP7 and probably well inland was orchards, (reducing soil runoff and fertiliser use) with farmers getting compensation for loss of income, ultimately that might best for Earth A and all of us.

Fine theories Roberto, but history suggests that whenever government subsidies and allowances are involved truth goes out of the window. A few years back when the crops were affected by weather in the Axarquia region for once the government did not just pay out unchecked. They looked at the claims and almost without exception when the amount of lost trees was weighed against the land registered to grow them the mature avocado trees would have had to be planted a foot apart.....and for many years the growers had been receiving payments from the Common Agricultural fund based upon these "miscounted" figures.....

Good to hear that there was improved administration in this area.

Around the world, one off payments compensating businesses for changes in laws for the greater good, including the environment have been managed sensibly.

These payments of course should only be made if the current land use  is legal.

Separately, the AP7 has changed water flows and that has to be addressed.

These are billion euro issues but no action will cost much more than that.
