Water Supply

Good evening,

Over the last 8 weeks our water supply has been ridiculous! 72 hours without water, currently 24 hours without water. Don't get me wrong I understand the issues and when we visited the agua office in Fortuna a worker was out last time within the hour and eventually water supply was gained within the day. We are semi rural 1.5km from the town. So I am looking at a different water source, or a back up system. We have solar panels for water heating and electricity. Any advice or recommendations please.

I am not an expert in water supply, of course, but is the problem lack of pressure rather than no water at all ? Everyone has the same problems in high Summer no matter where. There is simplly not enough water to go round in certain regions - although given the amount we received in March/April/May this year one would wonder where it has all gone now ! One solution I know of first hand is to install your own deposito for storage of water when you have plenty, for usage when you have little. A reputable Fontanero/Plumber will be able to supply and install this for you (not cheap) but well worth it. Then use your supply as economically as you can. Only take short showers - no baths! Don't run the cold water tap before the hot comes - catch it and re-use it. Don't use hoses very often. etc. etc. - I'm sure you know all this though, and it will make better usage of what you have. Other than that try and pump electrically more water supply than you are being given. Good Luck!

We had similar solution--a 500-liter tank connected to a pump that we turned on when needed. Then we had one whole year of good pressure, so removed it...This summer there seem to be issues again; have complained several times and each time they readjust it--for awhile...campo near Mazarron.
