Check out Spanish Tax Forms for the NR tax - they complete it for you and then you just pay. Costs about £30 I think. I used this and then used it as a template the next year to do it myself.

The IBI (Council tax) is set up to be taken by DD so that handles itself 🙂

Hi Paul,

Im in Lo Pagan and I have organised myself to sort he IBI tax.

I went to the Council offices in San Pedro beside the taxi rank. In the reception area you select a ticket for IBI.

I took my deeds, my NIE ,my passport and my bank details.

The staff are very helpful and will set you up for direct debit. You have options of monthly deductions or a lump sum.

When you figure out the Spanish non resident tax please share.

Regards

Jean

Hi there,

My wife and I have had a house in Lo Pagan for 14 years. We are non resident.

We got the IBI sorted with the town hall as per previous contributor.

I read a post somewhere on this forum which recommended Angar Taxation Services, the contributor stated that they charge €20 per person for arranging payment of the IRNR. I googled it as suggested and have just paid my bill for 2018 via this company. The cost was indeed €40. Service was personal, prompt and efficient. Most importantly I received an email with all the PDF attachments as proof that it had been paid.

I feel quite foolish now as we have been paying our solicitor €220 a year since we bought the house, to arrange same and they never sent us proof of payment.

This is an old chestnut that crops up every year. IBI can be paid by direct debit from your Bank. Non residents tax can be paid using form Modello 210, found on the internet. Take the verified forms to your Bank before the end of the tax year and they will pay it and give you a receipt, simple. No need to pay any fees to anyone.

Meant to show this... so can you pay monthly like in the uk or just in one lump sum? Here’s what they said:

Please find the taxes for the council and non residents below. The Council will be on direct debit from next year. The non resident cannot be on direct debit, we will calculate these for you. This year, as in 2018 you did not own the property the whole year, non resident taxes are lower, next year you will pay over the entire year.
Council taxes: 368,22€Non resident taxes: 72,08€Legal care fee, VM lawyers: 120,-€IVA/VAT: 25,20€                              +Total: 585,50€
You can transfer the amount to our bank account below, any questions, just let me know.

Paul, Just to clarify I am in San Pedro region. I am a non resident. In March I went to the Town Hall and they asked which system I wanted to pay IBI. Direct debit - one lump sum on 30th August or monthly instalments. I gave them my bank details and they set it up!!

ps: be wary of transferring any monies to an account unless you are sure it is an official account.

RMA, As for Modelo!! You make it sound so simple. What do you mean by ' a verified form' ? Who verifys it?

Yes it is simple if you follow the instructions on the web site. You fill in the form online and verify it online. When verified, I always print it out and take the form to the Bank and they either pay it from your account, or you can hand over the cash. The forms are then receipted at the Bank and you take the forms away with you. Make sure you do this before the end of the tax year.

Would you have a link to that web site, please? I have tried before but the site I was on was in Spanish and kept looking for , what I think, was my accountants fiscal number.
