Maybe his lack of respect for the law and others was caused by such an event 30 years ago?

Sorry to disappoint you, never was involved in any kind of accident. I am an excellent driver, just don't like the discomfort of seat-belt. So far I have been stopped four times by police in Spain, this is first time I got fined. Was really surprised to get a fine, thought they will let me off with a warning again. But I am really impressed with the friendly and polite nature of Spanish police, and their professional attitude. What a contrast with UK police.

Just an update on my fine. I did not pay the 200 fine. It's now 12 months sine the fine, but no one has bothered me about it.

I am thinking I got away with it. Don't think they send bailiffs to your door in Spain.

Thank you to all those bozos who were trying to scare me.

No, they just put an embargo on your bank account and charge you interest for the period that you haven't paid the fine! It happened to me when I didn't even know that I had a speeding fine and never received the notice. 3 years later, my bank account was embargoes for almost double the amount with the interests added on.

That's scary. I guess I have to wait another two years to find out if same thing happens to me.
