We have a holiday apartment in Los Alcazares and next time we are out there we would like to buy a used car. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy car dealer in the area ?

Yes Paul might be ok if there aren't any problems with the car but he isn't the most helpful guy if there are problems.

Try the main dealers who give a guarantee with the car and are very reliable. We bought from a main Hyundai dealer and it was very straightforward.

If you don't have a Pardon, which you don't need unless you are a full time resident,  bring along proof of ownership of your property such as the deeds or maybe a utility bill.

I mention this because foolishly we  were told once that we couldn't buy the car unless we had a Pardon but this is not true legally. Even if you are renting a copy of your lease agreement  will suffice.

In the end we put the car into our daughter's name as she does have a Padron but, ouch, it cost us €420 to get it changed back to our name a year later when we completed on the sale of our house. We were between houses at the time & had no utility bills. Best of luck finding what you need.

You may be surprised at how expensive second hand cars are in Spain, it's very different to the UK or Ireland.
