Thanks so much for your reply Rich.  That’s very helpful to know.
We are currently here in Spain, on day 50 of our 90 days, so really hoping things go relatively smoothly (and quickly!). Obviously we know we’ll have to go back to UK for our interviews and hoping we won’t have...

... to stay over there for too long.
Our current situation is we started our application procedure back in December last year but unfortunately due to an oversight by our Spanish lawyers back in January, our original ACRO certificates and our Drs certificates got held up in translation and so consequently timed out and we had to get them renewed and start the process all over again!  Meanwhile we had sold our UK home and so we decided to rent over here in Spain rather than in UK whilst we looked for a property to purchase.  Hoping our visa applications would be processed within our 90 days.  We have now found a property so are very keen to get the ball rolling but dare not commit to anything until our visas have been granted.  Hence my concern.  Fingers crossed they can see us quite quickly and we can get over there and back fairly soon in order to start our new life over here (and not to drive our son mad whilst he puts us up for the time we are staying with him in UK!).

Thanks again - Sara

Hi Rich,

Thanks for all your helpful advice regarding this.  Finally after much angst (long story!😬😱😳) we now have our NL visas and are back in Spain, hurrah!
Am I correct in thinking you must be in year two now and so have done your renewal?  Can you let me know was it an easy process please?  We are sincerely hoping it will be easier than the initial application.

Many thanks, Sara

Oh no Kim!  What a bummer!  Have you submitted your application yet?  If you get it off today they will probably be releasing appointments for Friday 24th tomorrow night (see my earlier post regarding booking an appointment at the London Consulate).  We got an e-Mail almost by...

... return with our log in and password details but there were no appointments available until three weeks hence.  We booked our appointment on 4th May and got one on 27th.  So you might get in on the skin of your teeth…

Good luck, I’ll keep fingers and toes crossed for you.

We finally got an appointment for tomorrow!!!! Within the validity of our certificates. I'm not expecting a smooth transaction of paperwork but hoping for the best

That’s brilliant news!  We got our visas last Thursday and we are now back here in Spain.  Hoping the purchase of our house will go through next week sometime. It took nearly three weeks for them to process the visas but there was the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and a Spanish bank holiday involved during that time so fingers crossed for you and expect approx 10-15 working days for them to come through.  They tell you at the consulate “one month” and if you ask very nicely if there could be a chance for them to be expedited, they just give that oh so familiar Spanish shrug!  However it was less than a month for us so I really hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

Hi, did you have to pay for visa fee in cash at the consulate?

Just want to make sure I have everything ready for tomorrow.  Thankx

That’s great!

Yes, we have just completed our first renewal - we have had confirmation that it has been approved, we’re just waiting for our appointment at the police station to have our TIEs renewed.

We used the same solicitor as we used for the original application and this cost just under €400. We had to provide the proof of means of maintenance and our private health insurance, but we didn’t need a medical certificate or a police certificate.

Cheers!

No we paid with a debit card.

Good luck for tomorrow - I’ll have my fingers and toes crossed for you.  Let us know how you get on.

Thank you for your help, had all the correct paperwork for me and my husband. Lovely guy at the consulate, said manager will need to ring us due to our age, 37 and 49! To ensure we won't be working. Not working for a year is definitely the plan! X
