Hi all , any advice ? We are looking to rent out our apartment and have been chosen for an inspection by the institution of tourism. It states that we need a chair/ armchair in every bedroom . Can you tell me is this accurate and necessary also a fire extinguisher is required. Any ideas of the best place to purchase it from? Many thank for your time.
Hi, not sure about the armchair but you can get a home fire extinguisher from Amazon. The armchair in each bedroom seems a bit odd. I guess you have the license number . How long did it take to get the tourist licence? Also how long did it take to get notified for the inspection? 😎

So, you are saying to get a tourist licence you have to have a chair in the bedroom so you can put on socks and shoes? Surely you can sit on the bed to do that !!

Thank for getting back so quickly. The application was dealt with in a couple of days & we got a tourist number the same day however it was a couple months later when we heard about the visit.

How did you manage to get it that quick? It usually takes from around 2 months upwards.
Hi, I have been through many tourist license inspections with my clients as a keyholder. The requirements are many for the inspector to 'pass' your property but it isn't that onerous.
First aid kit, fire extinguisher, chair with a back in each bedroom ( to assist elderly or less mobile clients, IKEA do a fold up chair which solves this issue), information file containing a list of local emergency services pharmacy, doctor, hospital, apartment information, local information, 3 ccopied of the complaint forms with explanation info in Spanish & English in how to fill them in, Red poster on the back of the door saying you have complaint form, door poster with emergency contact or keyholder the tourist website and the address of the apartment/villa.
He will then check you have the correct number of comfortable chairs, dining chairs, etc for the number you are registering for. I have on occasion been asked to show where the linen is and they have at times checked the kitchen cupboards for enough utensils, crockery etc.
You can rent with your registration number, at the moment it seems its about 4 months till inspection.

Not in our house! There would be a “don’t sit on the bed, it will make the mattress sink at the edge” from the boss!

Well it seems you do need chairs in every bedroom! My lesson learnt…! I knew most of what you needed but not all. 😎
