Not sure if under correct heading. My question is about buying glasses in Spain. Eyetest not needed as up to date and have prescription.

Firstly what is average price of buying glasses. We have no Spanish healthcare as we live in France but some countries are cheap anyway and will be there  Dec 10th/Jan 10th

My husbands lenses are damaged by sun ( bought in Greece) and really only needs new lenses, varifocal plus reactalite, will they put new lenses into owners existing frames?

Are there decent reasonable opticians nearby?

I think there are British specsavers near Alicante anyone been..any good are they like UK.

Here in France prices are extortionate even with healthcare sceme plus mutual insurance. Non fancy frame, varifocal, reactalite type quote 1,200E and without health and insurance it was nearly 2,000E crazy prices and they will not repair existing or just sell new lenses, of course not - no money in it!,

Is that with Spanish healthcare or just paying straight cash? Were they simple like single vision lens or varifocal and reactalite type for sun. That is very cheap.

No extras, but included eye test, they do frames from €69, and they do offers like English spec savers. I got standard frames, hubby got Hugo boss, Tommy Hilfiger.!!

Opticians will usually put lenses into your existing frames no problem. The most I've paid for glasses was 400 euros, mainly for designer frames and reactolite with special coating. You can probably get what you need done for less than 300 euros.

Eye tests are free and there are lots of independent opticians and a few small chains.

Glasses aren't covered on spanish healthcare as far as I know, at least not for working age people. Maybe for kids or pensioners.
