Certificate of Residence

I am a non resident but have a Spanish property. As a non resident do I have to provide a Certificate of Residence from HMRC to my Spanish Bank.
I can only speak from my own experience, but, when I was a non-resident I was never asked for anything like this.

I've tried looking online and it does seem that some UK citizens who own properties in some EU countries do have to pro use a Certificate if Residence, to show that the UK is their main residence. I have looked through some letters I got from my bank in Spain,Bankinter and it does ask me to provide a Tax Residence Certificate. I forgot all about it so i assume this is a follow up to that letter. Obviously i need to get a Certificate from HMRC to provide them or my Spanish Bank Account could be frozen. I will pop into Bankinter in December when I'm back in Spain.
