Be very careful I booked with them but when I went to pick up the car at the airport I discovered that the insurance for a right off was only 4000€ which car hire company said wasn’t enough so I ended up having to insure twice so not cheap.

They will definitely hold around €1200 on your credit or debit card, the slightest scratch and they will take payment off the money held, you could then probebly claim money back off of your own insurance, unless you have an excess, hope this helps.

Yes be aware and give Gold Car a miss. They will add insurance cost even if you have excess cover saying it is for fuel or some other excuse. Make sure to read the paper work before signing. Don't believe what the charming little pri-- tells you verbally. Best of luck and do let us know how you get on. We are hiring a car on the 23rd of this month and I will let the forum know how it went.

Well, we've booked. For 16 days with Interent it's just over 3 euros.

I realise we will have to keep our wits about us to avoid extra costs.

Will let you know outcome.

For an explanation of this apparent generosity, Google 'Firefly car hire reviews' and you will see how they make their money.

I wish I had looked at these reviews before I used one of their cars this October: £57 paid in advance 'for everything'. Got back home and found £151 further charges on my credit card - for one week's hire.

Did they give an explanation of the extra charge, or if not did you query it?
