Hi Mary,

I believe there’s a train from Balsicas to Madrid, it may require a change or two but Balsicas is what 7/10 km from la Ribera....so a lot easier than getting to Alicante (and possibly a less busy train for some of the journey).....and if you want to go to Alicante there’s a bus service, I believe it’s Globalia bus......

We’re all sitting here wondering when we can get flights out to Spain and there you and others are trying desperately to leave.....strange times...

Good luck in getting home.

Yes we are stranded also

We came on holiday

Should have gone home 25th march

Had 4 Ryanair flites cancelled

No refund as yet

Just waiting to leave when we can to get back to yorkshire

6 of our friends are also waiting to go home

Hi Helen, just had another flight cancelled with EasyJet. Looks like there won’t be anything now until July. We still haven’t received anything back yet from Ryanair and impossible to get through to them. Good luck with getting home.

If you booked Ryanair flights with a credit card contact your card company and do a chargeback.

Fastest and easiest way to get your money back.

I speak from experience.

Thankyou for that advice. Perhaps have to go down that route.

I haven’t checked out the trains from Balsicas but there isn’t any buses running at the moment, they stopped when lockdown came in, unless there’s a  “special” service to Alicante

Hi Mary, why not hire a car for a day and drive to Madrid airport 440 kmtres. 275 miles, all motorway, you can leave car there? Ba. to Heathrow.  seems ok all airports are very quiet. JimJ1

I would check with your local police that you could do this - you would be travelling to a different region, and with the borders still being closed you might have trouble flying out - plus you would have to isolate for 14 days when you got to the UK.

You are allowed to travel to an airport if you are from uk,  have tickets, and are returning to your main residence ( uk).  On arrival you give your home address where you have to quarantine for 14 days and they will check you are complying with penalties if not.   Jim

Hi Jim, might have to try this route if my flight on Monday is cancelled. Just a couple of questions, do you know if any car hire places in the area or would we have to get a taxi to Murcia airport? I had dealings with GoldCar st the airport & they told me that they wouldn’t be opening until the flights start again, which makes sense
