The property I finally bought had fines that the previous owner had paid so there was obviously issues with it at some point, I was told (by an estate agent I hasten to add) that one of the properties he showed me maybe one day made legal but if and when it was the property would lose part of it's front garden for road widening and owners would foot the bill for surfacing and street lighting, I wish you well in your house search VDS really is a lovely area to live but just be very carefull.

Beware!
I was going to buy a property in VDS Id been told it was legal until after I’d paid my deposit I found it wasn’t fully legal! Also that the water from the well was free another lie and then no information about future planning that could be a big cost if the urbanise the area, and depending on the size of the plot. I went over to sort it all out and complete only to find the “fully furnished” house had been stripped out by the seller! Needless to say I pulled out and am struggling to get my deposit back! also Iv also noticed lots of burglaries in the area. Consider everything very carefully.
Good luck!

Hello! My name is Giorgiana , I am 28 years old,I am living with my partener in Ambleside Uk since 2016.Now I am working in an outdoor shop in the Lake District and he is working in Tesco. We speak english and spanish, I understand everything perfect in spanish but I am not that fluent in speaking but my boyfriend speaks perfectly spanish because he used to live for 5 years in Spain with his family , and that is one of the reasons that we want to live there for him to be with them again. I was wondering if somebody knows some jobs in Puerto Mazzaron or around the area. Thank you! :)

I've lived in various locations in southern Spain and in my opinion VDS is by far the best, yes it has and does have it's problems but nothing that I have not witnessed in the other locations I have lived in, if you want problemless living then maybe Spain isn't for you, if you do decide to go ahead with your move don't rush into anything do your homework just as you would in the UK, I personally love VDS, good luck in whatever you decide.
Hi, I too looked into buying in VDS.
When our solicitor did a search we found the vllla was illegal.
The area was not classed as urbanization, the property had no license nor was it likely to be granted one
We were advised to steer clear.
Get a search done before paying any deposit.

I absolutely agree with Brian the agents took me along to a “highly rated” solicitor who turned out to be their solicitor! Slight conflict of interest and that “highly rated” solicitor didn’t give me the correct advice and have stolen my deposit. Steer well clear! PM me for details.
we looked to buy there and as far as we were told all the properties are illegal... the banks won't touch them.... clearly you're not needing a mortgage.... you are really just paying for a piece of land..
