Hi Flyer,

I’ve just logged into my account and nothing there about any changes, I was able to make a transfer and there hasn’t been any fees added…..so mine looks like it always has…so sorry I can’t thrown any light on why you can’t open an account…..

Hi guys. I'm trying to open a non residents account with Cajamar. Looked at Wefferent but it says you must be resident in Spain. Has something changed?

Are you mis understanding what it says ??

A non resident cannot open the Wefferent account online.

They have to go into a branch office.

I'm reading it verbatim from their website! Maybe they should say that if you are non resident you need to open it in a branch but they don't!

Opened mine in a branch being a non-resident. Needed a passport, NIE, UK National Insurance No., P60 and a Spanish SIM in my phone. Got a free debit card and happy to say that it's the best thing I have done banking wise.

Went to the branch and it was rammed! Couldn't even get through the front door.

So I've come home and started the application but for some stupid reason, the form doesn't recognize my NIE number! It starts with a Y and ends -B but every variation I try is not accepted!

Flyer, I tried exactly the same online and got nowhere. So I raised a query withe their customer support and got this back (Google translated!)

Regarding your query, we inform you that you can go to any of our offices where our colleagues only have to record their data in our system and register in remote banking.  Once you have your passwords you can create your wefferent account from your client access profile: accounts> my accounts> account opening

I have since been given a name of a helpful person in the Sucina branch and I will be seeing them next time I am out. What has been confirmed is that because Cajamar is a cooperative, they do need you to have 1038€ deposited to get free banking.

I don't know where this figure of €1038 comes from. It was certainly not the criteria when I opened the Wefferent account 6 weeks ago! There was never any suggestion that I had to put money but I chose to do so to cover any direct debits that came up quickly.  There has been no charges/interests/commissions on my account at all - totally free banking!

When I opened my account there was no mention of having to deposit a certain amount of money either but I was depositing more than the figure mentioned so perhaps that’s why they didn’t say anything about it……but seeing as it’s been mentioned here I’m going to make sure I keep a balance in excess of the €1038 just in case…..
