No it is clearly your opinion.

If you want to discuss Brexit, why not start a new thread?

See the Gov.uk for details about pensions paid overseas, and agreements with other countries.

No it's not my opinion, it's fact.

Statistics are facts not opinion. Economically Brexit was and continues to be disastrous.

But at least we can celebrate the end of free movement......taking back control of our borders, a points based system encouraging those with the skills we need to come to the UK. Those with small boat handling skills are in abundance.

My wife starts to get her UK pension next February ,can any UK retirees confirm if you get the yearly increases living full time in spain

Sorry for banging on about Brexit but it's part of the answer.

When the UK was part of the EEA your wife got pension increases without question, no it's or buts. It's no longer certain since leaving the EU.

I don't want to scaremonger but the increases could be suspended. At our time in life we need income certainty not it's and buts. Increases whilst they remain should be treated as a bonus not relied upon, in my opinion.

It is easier to find money on trees than a rational Brexiteer.

It is hard to free fools from the chains they revere - Voltaire.

The pension issue does affect me too, but as Brexit has been brought into this thread,  I wonder how many people agree that firstly we were not properly informed or given enough information to vote advisedly.

'They' kept on about it costing the UK some £70m per day to belong to the EEU, so one could surmise from this that the money would be better spent on our NHS, education, farming etc.

A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing and so on...

It's unfair to ask people on this forum to name any benefits from Brexit when government ministers can't come up with any...except blue passports. The downsides are well documented, mainly in the travel and freedom of movement front, which are the main concerns on this forum.

We were given enough lies by Farage and his likes, and all the bigots and xenophobes were only too willing to believe those lies.

On the day the Brexit vote was won......Farage was on a plane to the USA.

The best way to stay the world's largest superpower is to knobble the potential competition. The US, with their dominance in world media, "encouraged" Brexit to knobble the EU.....

My wife and I got letters a very long time ago....... Raising both our retirement ages to 67. To put this in perspective that's a combined nine years lost compared to our parents.....about £80,000 less than they got when inflation is factored in.

Now some nice people voted us out of the EU and our future retirement plans are in tatters, despite already having a property in Spain. Can anyone point at anything good that has come about since Brexit? They were so adamant it would be great for everyone.....even one thing .....anybody?...

...

It's a shame that what started as a sensible question about the UK pension being paid to EU has been turned by you into a whinging session about Brexit.

I trust you love Spain so much and are properly and legally resident in Spain and have no wish, apart from drawing a UK pension, to return, unless of course, you become a health tourist and access NHS care in breach of the 6 month rule for people living overseas.

Perhaps you should share with us the European Convention on Human Rights which was written here in England before 1950 but the EU didn't get around to properly adopting it until 1998.

Article 14 prohibits discrimination based on "sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status".  This is why male and female pensions and retirement ages in the UK were aligned.

Financial pressures forced up the retirement age in the UK brought about by the Blair / Brown / Blunket /Balls up of the last labour government have resulted in over 6 million people from the 2004 Accession state seeking leave to remain in the UK through the EU settlement scheme.   Fact.

“access NHS care in breach of the 6 month rule for people living overseas.”

Another load of rubbish presumably garnered from the man in the pub. Read the rules on the NHS website.
