Has anyone any experience of using their TIE to travel outside of Spain. I know it can't be used to travel to the UK etc but am just wondering if it can be used instead of a passport in say France or another EU country?
Your passport is based on your nationality, not your residence; whereas your TIE is proof of residence, so you need your passport as a UK citizen (actually, a UK subject) to travel.

Your passport is your only form of official ID outside Spain. Your TIE is subject to your having a valid passport from your country of origin, which must be used whenever travelling to other countries.
