200,000 Covid tests are being conducted daily in the UK (and capacity is now for 350,000 if needed). To date around 16 million tests have been conducted. Not sure what you would have been expecting. As for difficulty in getting a test, from the experiences of friends living in the north west of t...

Well if you are a member of the general public you cannot get a covid19 test. Yes if you are a nhs staff member or are displaying symptoms you can. I refer you to this government website. Don't believe all the spin boris is giving out.

I quote the following up to date information taken from www.nhs.uk:

"You can get a test:

- for yourself, if you have coronavirus symptoms

- for someone you live with, if they have symptoms

- if you live in England and have been told to have a test before you go into hospital, for example, for surgery

- if you live, work or study in an area with a coronavirus outbreak (there follows a list of currently affected areas)

Book a visit to a test site today. Or order a home test kit if you cannot get to a test site."

There then follows contact details.

As it happens the UK has a testing rate over twice that of Spain.

So you can't just walk in off the street and get tested as was originally implied. You need to be showing symptoms to get a test or one of your family has to be showing symptoms.

Me myself who is showing no symptoms can't just go and get a test.

You're right in that you can't just walk up to a test centre and demand a test -- I think you have to arrange an agreed appointment by phone or online. The website points out that you need to get tested within 5 days of thinking you are showing the symptoms so there presumably is an urgency about getting people looked at. And of course you can just ask for a home testing kit instead.

Don't label us all the Giro Brigade, I am retired and have property out there, which I travel to at least 3 to 4 times a year. I think this FCO Ruling is a kick in the teeth by the British Government. They should have done what they are doing in the UK Regionalize it to infected arears. They open...

... a Travel corridor and then close it 3 weeks later. Most of the flights are still going and ignoring the FCO ruling. Which will invalidate your insurance. Shame you can't take out a Spanish travel insurance to cover your medical costs while out there. It does not bother me if I have to self isolate when I get back. It's just travelling without medical insurance that's the problem. Also as there is a Government ruling not to travel your EHIC cards will be invalid.

Where have you read the EHIC card is invalid. The information I’ve read doesn’t say this. It advices that you shouldn’t use it without additional travel insurance, however, it is still valid for those traveling against FCO advice.

With regard to the EHIC card, I believe it stops being effective  at end of this year when England rows off to a great and glorious future.

Hi Ian,   yes it does stop being valid at end of December.  We should have full residency by then so.....

I actually do believe that the UK will prosper outside of EU.  Many other countries around the world have already signed UK prelim trading agreements.  All the commonwealth countries.  Aussi. USA.  NZ etc,.  They're only waiting for end of transition period to discuss and ratify formal agreements.  Meaning they should be in place within months - not years.   We love the UK and we love the countries & people of the EU too.  Lets hope they all recover from the commerical damage caused by Covid lockdown quickly and all do well in the future.

Although the spike may be limited to certain areas the numbers given are for mainland Spain. Imagine the outcry if the government did nothing and all those returning lead to a 2and wave in the UK

This is precautionary based on information provided and although unfortunate for those that travelled it is still the correct reaction to take...

...

As soon as Spain controls these spikes and the numbers reduce then I am sure that Spain will be back on the air corridor list

wel vreemd, de Britse regering heft de meeste maatregelen op en stopt binnenkomende landgenoten weer in quarantaine?
